ROBUSTA FAX

Robusta coffee comes from the beans of the Coffea canephora plant and accounts for 30-40% of global coffee production, the remainder being made up of arabica coffee.

These beans produce a low acidic, full-bodied brew that has a bold taste, with earthy undertones of dark chocolate.

However, their strong flavor has people divided.

Some people, like chúng ta (us), really enjoy the malty flavor of robusta coffee, probably because it goes SO well in Vietnamese iced coffee! While others claim it's "inferior" to the smooth and delicate taste of arabica.

But don't worry, our mos taught us to always be kind and never judge. Instead, we're going to show why you should give the Robusta bean a try.

Native to Sub-Saharan Africa, the robusta plant was first "discovered" in the Congo during the late 1800s - and people absolutely lost their shit.

At the time, people were almost exclusively drinking arabica coffee. However, these plants require a lot of TLC. So, when a Coffee Leaf Rust disease emerged in the late 20th century, the impact on arabica was detrimental.

In order to adapt (because coffee is life) Europeans began cultivating robusta beans in lowland areas such as Uganda, Ivory Coast, Guinea, and our native Vietnam, which were previously deemed to be undesirable.

Robusta plants thrived in these locations, and today Vietnam has emerged as the world's leading producer of robusta coffee!🎉

"By "discovered" we mean colonizers found it for the first time, locals would have been using it for years before.🙄

BETTER FOR WORLD

Posted 09/18/99

You know how your parents used to recycle grocery bags before it became cool? Well, robusta beans are a lot like that, they’re the O.G. eco-conscious warrior.

Pest-Resistant

Robusta plants are naturally stronger and more disease & pest resistant, because of this they don’t rely on harmful chemical pesticides to grow, thus having a more positive impact.

Grows robustly

Robusta plants are very resilient. As temperatures rise and the effects of climate change become more apparent, arabica won’t be able to produce high yields, while robusta will persevere.

Low carbon footprint

Arabica plants take nearly 39 gallons of water for just ONE cup of coffee (!!) robusta plants need 3 gallons of water to make the same amount of coffee.

Continually, since fewer chemicals are used, the effect of harmful pesticides on the surrounding environment will be far less.

It's pretty clear that robusta coffee is the better, more sustainable coffee option, it's the coffee option of the future.

If you're still not convinced that you should make the switch from arabica to robusta, we'll leave you with this...

Why do you hate the environment?!

Robusta move and make the change

BETTER FOR BODY

Posted 09/18/99

Apart from its incredible flavor, robusta coffee is actually better for you and your thân hình (body). Why you ask?

Higher caffeine content

Robusta beans have TWICE as much caffeine as arabica, ideal if you want to cut down your coffee consumption, because now you don’t need to drink as much coffee to get that energy boost. It’s also always good to know how much caffeine you’re consuming, that’s why RTDs are the way to go – but we could be biased lol.

Rich in antioxidants & chlorogenic acid

From increasing metabolism to improving blood circulation, preventing weight gain and even improving your immunity – robusta coffee is a lot like a Viet más, there’s nothing it can’t do!

Improves cognitive function

The high caffeine content in robusta is a natural stimulant, and triggers various neurotransmitters such as serotonin and dopamine, which in turn helps reduce brain fog, increase clarity & alertness, and improve memory.

Experience the strong flavor and bold benefits of robusta coffee with SANG Vietnamese Coffee and our infinitely recyclable cans!

Our five ready-to-drink cà phê sữa đás come in five fiery flavors and highlight the powerful flavor of robusta coffee carefully sourced from Vietnam.
